Sound Clips: Fresh from a strong showing in
the finals of the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge,
Junkyard Jane has kicked its already formidable momentum up a few notches
with the release of its third CD, the accurately titled Swampabilly
Snake Oil Freakshow. This musically colorful concoction offers many
joys to the listener -- tight vocal arrangements, excellent production,
and JJ's trademark warped sense of humor -- but perhaps the greatest
pleasure it delivers is the opportunity to hear a band so completely
in command of its own musical ship. This is unquestionably Junkyard
Jane's most consistently satisfying release so far, and it wonderfully
captures the band in full embrace of its unique talents and sensibilities." |
