Blues
Dressed
To Kill By Weintraub/Showman
The
Way You Hold Me By Ian Weintraub
About the CD:
These Blues, the first CD by Olympia, Wa's Blues Monsters,
features some of the bands trademarks: great original songs, wonderful
lead vocals by Linda Farr, exciting guitar and harmonica solos (by,
respectively, Ian Weintraub and Jeffrey"Dr. Soul"Showman). Blues Monsters
music goes beyond the confines of traditional Chicago blues, mixing
soul, funk, and jammin' rock - what the band calls "Blues for the 21st
Century".
Among the featured songs on These Blues
are: Dressed to Kill, inspired by classic '40's jimp-blues with a '90's
woman's perspective; The Only Cure an atmospheric slow tune penned by
Linda Farr; The Way You Hold Me, Ian Wientraub's deceptively simple
song with wonderful catchy hooks; and Soul 69, a world-beat flavored
instrumental showing the Monster's funkier side
Reviews:
Blues Monsters fans offer enthusiastic testimonials at every show, such
as these from a recent standing room only crowd at Cole's in Tacoma,
WA: "Awesome!", "You are a tight band, loved it." and "You guys jam."
