One Night Only |
just released a new CD, "One Night Only"
"You
hear this voice...raw, rough and plain, with a wry twist that comes
right out of too many nights on the road, a little like Joe Tex, with
some Ray Charles Thrown in, and further back, some kind of sad, low
moan from the country."

Love Blues by Mark Riley Love & Trouble About the CD: This is Mark Riley's latest release and it's a great one! On this particular CD, "Love & Trouble," Mark shines bright on his guitar playing as well as his singing. If you listen you will hear something about all the places Mark comes from. As a writer, Riley bares his soul to anyone who will listen. He talks about what is on his mind. Straight out and to the point. If you want to hear something from one man's heart, get out your money, you're in luck. For my money Mark is without a doubt the real deal and he ain't gonna go away ...Mark Riley is a working musician. Visit the Home page: Mark Riley |

Mark Riley Leap of Faith About the CD: Mark Riley does justice to a Bill Engelhart composition "Wine and Whiskey". With the help of "The Mudhorns" he pulls off a fine rendition of this Bluenote classic and it's a fine homage to Little Bill as well. "Evil End" is a down home straight ahead blues cut featuring Mark on guitar and vocals and the sublime soundin' Paul Green playing some fine, fine harmonica. Sean Goodrich adds Fiddle and Mandolin. "Just Because" is a nice tune that I think kinda pays homage to Seattle guitar legend and WBS Hall of Famer, Jimi Hendrix, as the band invitingly escorts you to Electric-Riley Land. A pretty cool place, nice keyboards from Rick Ulsky. My absolute favorite cuts are as follows: "Leap of Faith", the title cut has a Gospel air, Indian tabla percussion, soothing and soulful background vocals, less is more! "Snake Charmer" is a great exchange of guitars by Mark and Seattle Slim, truly fine! Visit the Home page: Mark Riley |

Mark Riley Lead Suite About the CD: Lead Suit is a perfect fit! This Mark Riley release is an extremely good and fresh package. Mark can play his instrument and he picks out good materials to record besides his own compositions. "You're My Girl" is an original with Rolf Larson playing accordion, giving the tune a zvdeco flavor. "How Many More Times" (not Chester Burnett's famous song) is one of my favorites. The song has a cross cut rhythm. Mark Riley's 335 Gibson has an Isaac Scott tone of yester year to it and Paul Green plays all around and through the number wonderfully. "My Babe" (not Willie Dixon's song) is a roc-a-rolla penned by Ron Holden, whom Mark spent some time with gigging and such. "Corndog", a Nick Vigarino classic, sounds good and look out for Paul Green on this one, he's again incredible! Producer Tom McFarland dials in some creamy warms sounds that remind me of early Mick Taylor or Peter Green. Instrumentally I hear Jeff Beck in there too.
