Sue Orfield / 4 Out Of 5 Doctors
Sue has been playing her horn for over 20 years, freelancing in the jazz, blues, and rock scene. She was voted "BEST HORN" in 1999 by the Washington Blues Society. Besides heading up 4 OUT OF 5 DOCTORS, she is currently playing with The Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet and Nick Vigarino's Meantown Blues. She continues to freelance and blend her quirky, distinctive sound with such local artists as Junkyard Jane, Ellen Whyte, Nicole Fournier, and many more. In the past, Sue has shared the stage with the likes of the Indigo Girls, Bo Diddley, Ann Wilson of Heart, Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, and Bobby McFerrin. Sue's artistry, individuality, and powerful presence on the stage make her one of the Northwest's favorite saxophone players.

The Band:
4 OUT OF 5 DOCTORS consists of Sue Orfield on sax, Dan Tyack on pedal steel guitar, John Kessler on bass, and Larry Dennis on drums. The group puts its emphasis on writing and playing songs, while at the same time featuring each person's varying improvisational styles. Their instrumental, original music (Mingus and Monk meet Led Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers and Count Basie) blurs the lines between rock, jazz, R&B, funk, and swing.

Neighbor Dave / There Goes The Neighborhood
"There Goes The Neighborhood" has an overall playing time of 44.37 minutes and the seven original tunes are proof that Dave won't be just another fly-by-night band! This band will blow you away with their mesmerizing, toe-tapping, hip swaying beat! It was difficult for me to take this CD out of my player, much less stop listening to it hour after hour!

Neighbor Dave features a variety of professional musicians whose abilities contribute to this fantastic sound. Richard Aguirre on Upright Bass; Alan Ames on Dobro; John "Scooch" Cugno on Drums and Harmonica; Ken Harris on Keyboards; "Fat John" Nemeth on Harmonica; Ric Parsley on Jew's harp; and Rico Weisman on Electric Bass.

Neighbor Dave / Crossroads a' Comin'
Neighbor Dave's raggedy folk-blues songs just get better! Crossroads a' Comin' (self released) kicks off with a Captain Beefheart-style offering to the god of staggering, "Face Down In the Gutter." Dave's trip is sparse guitar work, keen lyrical observations, vivid visuals, and vocals with true heart. __Ed Ivey, Blues Bites, Blues Revue

David Brewer: Too Loud ...Move Back!
When I first moved to Seattle, about eleven years ago, David Brewer was only welcome in one venue in the entire Puget Sound area. That venue was a seedy, scooter tramp tavern at one end of the Fremont Bridge, where your daytime host was the infamous Harmonica Playboy, populated with Gypsy Jokers and felonious n'er do wells. A local bass player called Brewer's music, machine shop blues, because of it's triphammer volume and unrelenting pressure.

The first time I heard David's music, I didn't get it. His blistering, paint peeling guitar attack camouflaged the subtleties of his sensitive and intelligent song writing skills. Long about my second or third exposure to Mr. Brewer, my thick-headed prejudices fell away, and I began to understand what a genius he is. I ain't lyin', genius he is. His guitar flows with pure emotion.

David says, "I don't play it. I just hold it, and the blues comes out!" His song writing skills are unparalleled. From the sly humor of Bob's Trailer Heaven to the dark and threatening Lookin' For Some Good Luck, this CD release drips with Brewer Band originality. Even the off-beat covers of Bobby Troupe and Greg Allman tunes kept me wonderin'. Like his beloved '41 Knucklehead Harley-Davidson, David's music is a throwback to a thick and loud guitar attack, once championed by the Master of the Telecaster, Albert Collins.

I don't know if there is room in the blues market for Mr. Brewer, but there is room in my collection, and my heart, for his masterful and soaring music. If David's music is too loud and too threatening for you, take my advice, move back and listen to a musical originator. Trust me. It's as good as a government check! Uncle Ray
