HIGHWAY 101

From the moment they formed, Highway 101 presented a new approach to country music. The group’s blend of country roots and tradition with rock ‘n roll energy helped to catapult the country genre forward, tapping a whole new audience and paving the way for such mass appeal artists as Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw.

Their appearance at Blazing Saddles was a high point of our Summer Concert Series.
They put on a show that all who attended will remember for quite awhile. It is not often you get to see a band of this caliber up close and in such an intimate setting. They were fun and musically exciting and totally enjoyable.

Trent Tomlinson

Singer/songwriter Trent Tomlinson is one of those rare performers whose music is as straight-ahead and unpretentious as he is. "My songs," he says simply, "are real-life situations with kick-ass guitar." "It's 'open a beer, sit in a lawn chair, let's have a party' country," he says of his music. "At the same time, the songs are saying, 'I have the ability to love you, to understand,' and at the end of the day all that matters is Mama and Daddy and going to heaven. That pretty much sums everything up."Trent honed his music to perfection in countless demo studios over the years. "I've had five publishing deals," he says. "I've practically lived in the studio, creating and honing a sound of my own. And it turns out that five of the songs on the album record are actually my demos -- Lyric Street loved them so much as is that we just went in and re-sang and tweaked a little, instead of re-recording."

Danny O'Keefe

In the 1970's, Danny O'Keefe put out a string of albums that cemented his reputation as being among the best songwriters of his generation. These days, casual fans know him best for his Top Ten hit "Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues" or Jackson Browne's version of "The Road" from the classic Running On Empty album. But the story didn't end in the 70's. He continued to release the occasional album and recently returned with In Time, his first solo release in nine years.
