Nestled
in the pristine landscape just 25 miles east of Arlington, WA
lies the Whitehorse Mountain Amphitheater. Owned and operated
by the Darrington Bluegrass Association, it is truly a unique
venue that has been host to some of the biggest names in the history
of classic rock. It is in that tradition we are proud to present
the 2nd Annual
"STRUTZFEST"
Dedicated to the memory of our dear friend, Mike Turner, an amazing
friend who loved music and life, with a generous spirit that touched
everyone he met. The administrators of STRUTZFEST, through The
Mike Turner Memorial Foundation, will donate money raised through
ticket sales to Children's Hospital of Seattle, along with other
local charities.
Toby's band, known as "STRUTZ", was a main staple of
the regular line-up of artists that performed year after year
at the annual rock shows in Darrington. With six years performing
at these festivals, Toby chose to pull his band from the roster
during
the
last two due to changes in production companies. That decision
proved to be wise, as handling of those events resulted in unpleasant
publicity and a negative name for the festival altogether. With
a couple years off, Toby decided it was time to put together another
show -- one that the public and bands alike could gather to enjoy
the music, environment and camaraderie of the event. With that,
Toby and friends founded the Mike Turner Memorial Foundation and
the plan was set in motion to dedicate the revenues from this
festival to deserving charities. Together with his long time friends
Quinton Tanner and promoter Patrick Robison of Shadow Presents,
and with the cooperation of Pacific Rim Talent, represented by
talent manager Craig Cook, Toby has pulled together a true showcase
of northwest talent.
With a thousand of available campsites and full service food and
beverage vendors, STRUTZFEST '09 promises to be one of the most
memorable events of the summer.
StrutzFest '09 is dedicated to the memory of dear friend,
fellow musician, and guitar legend Joe Shikany who was taken shortly
after last year's event in a tragic accident. Joe was a large
part of the success of the 1st Annual StrutzFest. He was a member
of many regional and national bands and was a professional with
extraordinary talent. His presence at this year's festival will
be deeply missed.
